Decorative Arts Council

The Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art is renowned for its collections of American and European decorative arts, which include Renaissance and Baroque works from the J. Pierpont Morgan Collection, the Wallace Nutting Collection, and Connecticut furniture.
Purpose: The Decorative Arts Council of the Wadsworth Atheneum was founded to further the appreciation of the decorative arts and to support the decorative arts departments at the Atheneum.
Prerequisite: Museum membership at the premier level.
Benefits of Membership: Yearly programs of the Decorative Arts Council include lectures and receptions, travel opportunities, visits to private collections and other museums, and social events.

  • Development of personal connoisseurship through educational programs.
  • A deeper knowledge of the Atheneum’s collections through personal contact with the curators.
  • An opportunity to develop a broadened appreciation of the decorative arts through unique intellectual and social experiences.
