Our day begins at the New-York Historical Society, New York’s first museum. After a $65 million, 3-year renovation, the luminous façade is just one of the building’s vast treasures. Exhibitions on view include The Return of the Hudson River School: Nature and the American Vision and WWII & NYC, which explores the war’s impact on New York City. Enjoy a light lunch on your own in the museum’s charming Caffe Storico, which overlooks Central Park. Preview your visit on the museum’s website.
We will then travel across town for High Tea in the Ballroom of Gracie Mansion, the “people’s house”, overlooking a bend in the East River on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. The majestic yellow mansion is so welcoming and has been totally renovated with fine designer fabrics and period antiques. Built in 1799 as a country house, Gracie Mansion has been the official residence since 1942 of several New York City Mayors including Fiorello LaGuardia. Be prepared for a lavish High Tea with a delicious selection of tea sandwiches, teacakes, and scones for the perfect ending to a New York day. $105; $95 Members, includes transportation, admission, tour, high tea and gratuities.
