In observance of the Hartford Marathon on Saturday, Oct. 11, Second Saturdays programming will take place in the afternoon from 1 – 4pm. Museum admission is free ALL DAY, 10am – 5pm.
Second Saturdays: Adventures & Expeditions: Join us in the Connections Gallery to look at Walton Ford’s painting in Novaya Zemlya that recalls an expedition to the North Pole and find other works of art that take you to new territory! Imagine a destination and make an illustrated map to get you there and a journal to document your journey.

Sunday Serenades: Mozart & MATRIX: Join us in the galleries for a chamber music concert inspired by the complex international saga of exploration, colonization, and world domination, depicted in Frohawk Two Feathers / MATRIX 170. The program features Henry Purcell’s Golden Sonata, François Couperin’s Les Nations: L’Impériale, and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Piano Quintet, K. 452. Presented with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra, featuring Concertmaster Leonid Sigal.

Second Saturdays: Stories by Frohawk Two Feathers: Jump into the fictional narrative of world domination created by MATRIX 170 artist Frohawk Two Feathers. Meet the artist, make your own artifact, and trace its origins in an epic story. Free admission 10am – 1pm.

Concert: In Order to Survive with William Parker: The great William Parker—American free jazz double bassist, multi-instrumentalist, poet and composer—performs live in the Aetna Theater.

Second Saturdays: Festive Days: Celebrate world holiday traditions during our annual Festival of Trees & Traditions! Make ornaments inspired by Kwanzaa, Christmas, Winter Solstice, Hanukkah, and Three Kings Day. Free admission 10am – 1pm.
