Feb 8 @ 10:00 am – 1:00 pm

Second Saturdays: Living Art: Have you ever imagined the people in a work of art coming to life?

Create a character inspired by a work you see in our galleries and stay for the Connecticut premiere of animated film The Painting, a quest story that brings to life the characters who “live” in a painting hanging in an artist’s studio.

Listen to children and young adult stories read by authors from the Connecticut Authors and Publishers Association throughout the morning.

About the Connecticut Authors and Publishers Association: The Connecticut Authors and Publishers Association (CAPA) is a non-profit organization that helps authors through education and promotion, while working to raise awareness about our local authors and encourage reading and writing in the community. It is a statewide organization with about 300 members, representing published authors, writers, local publishers and author services. CAPA’s authors represent all genres, including books for children and young adults, as well as a wide variety of adult fiction and non-fiction. They have four chapters which meet in Avon, Shelton, Groton and Mansfield, with a fourth in the process of being formed in the Danbury/Waterbury area.

About Second Saturdays for Families: Explore art with your family, encourage creativity, and expand your imagination through conversation and discovery. Each program includes hands-on art projects, tours for families, live music, and engaging fun through film, theater and dance. Join us every month year-round!

Second Saturdays for Families are funded by Aetna. Additional support provided by the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, the J. Walton Bissell Foundation, Inc., the Ensworth Charitable Foundation (Bank of America, Trustee), the George A. & Grace L. Long Foundation (Bank of America and Alan S. Parker, Co-Trustees).
