*Gallery Talk: Behind the Seen: Have you ever wondered how art is installed and who actually handles our priceless objects? Go behind the “seen” with Cecil Adams, Head of Museum Design, and Steve Winot, Chief Preparator, and hear about the movement of art, from the most fragile ancient glass and 17th century tapestries to 3-ton contemporary outdoor sculpture. Ask them about other museum mysteries! Free with admission.
*This gallery talk was originally scheduled to take place on Friday, January 31, but has been rescheduled to Friday, February 7, 12 pm.
Second Saturdays: Living Art: Have you ever imagined the people in a work of art coming to life?
Create a character inspired by a work you see in our galleries and stay for the Connecticut premiere of animated film The Painting, a quest story that brings to life the characters who “live” in a painting hanging in an artist’s studio.
Listen to children and young adult stories read by authors from the Connecticut Authors and Publishers Association throughout the morning.
1 pm: Screening of The Painting. Directed by Jean-Francois Laguionie. 76 minutes. Unrated.
About the Connecticut Authors and Publishers Association: The Connecticut Authors and Publishers Association (CAPA) is a non-profit organization that helps authors through education and promotion, while working to raise awareness about our local authors and encourage reading and writing in the community. It is a statewide organization with about 300 members, representing published authors, writers, local publishers and author services. CAPA’s authors represent all genres, including books for children and young adults, as well as a wide variety of adult fiction and non-fiction. They have four chapters which meet in Avon, Shelton, Groton and Mansfield, with a fourth in the process of being formed in the Danbury/Waterbury area.
