41st Hartford Youth Art Renaissance

HYAR_postcard_2014_front41st Hartford Youth Art Renaissance: Celebrate the 41st anniversary of the museum’s partnership with the Hartford Public School District to produce the Hartford Youth Art Renaissance, an exhibition of student artwork from kindergarten – grade 12 created by Hartford Public School students. View a selection of over 100 works of art on display at the Hartford Public Library downtown branch, and explore the grand prizewinners on view at the museum.

We encourage you to talk with your families about what you see and feel. Use your mobile device to access the audio guide and listen to student artists reflect on their masterpieces. We hope that you leave feeling inspired by the creativity and ingenuity of the youth of our community.

Fine Art & Flowers: Welcome spring at our annual fundraiser Fine Art & Flowers! View floral arrangements inspired by works of art in our collection and unique garden designs in the museum’s historic interiors, created by community florists, garden clubs and designers. Throughout the weekend enjoy special events, tours, a marketplace with local vendors and more.

Little Black Dress: Ladies (and gentlemen), enjoy a spirited floral presentation in the theater by Bill Graham – longtime owner of the gift and floral shop, Beautiful Things, in Salem, MA – as he demonstrates how to accessorize your little black dress by creating wearable floral arrangements fit for any occasion – the perfect spring accessory! Afterwards join him in Avery Court for lunch prepared fresh by The Museum Cafe.

Sample the latest crop of locally made beer and wine during cocktail hour - Onyx Spirits Company will unveil a new specialty cocktail -  followed by a four-course farm-to-table dinner prepared with garden fresh ingredients from area farms, businesses, distilleries, and vineyards including Rosedale Farms & VineyardsWinding Drive Jams, City Steam Brewery Cafe, Hartford Baking Co., NoRA Cupcake Company and more. Throughout the evening enjoy music by The Hartt School’s Elizabeth Grace Band, and Connecticut Lyric Opera will perform selections from their upcoming performance of Puccini’s Madama Butterfly. From cocktails to dinner, be inspired by resplendent works of art paired with imaginative floral interpretations. $95

A balsamic dressed tri-colore antipasto salad with endive, radicchio, and arugula served with olives, roasted red peppers, artichoke hearts, roasted eggplant, Italian cheese and a selection of artisan breads

2nd Course (Il Primo)
Potato Gnocchi served with a mushroom ragu and topped with a pancetta crisp

3rd Course (Il Secondo)
Braised beef Tuscan style over a polenta cake served with sautéed spinach and white beans

4th Course (Dolce)
