View floral arrangements inspired by works of art in our collection and unique garden designs in the museum’s historic interiors, created by community florists, garden clubs and designers. Throughout the weekend enjoy special events, tours, a marketplace with local vendors and more.

The 33rd Annual Fine Art & Flowers is presented by the Women’s Committee of the Wadsworth Atheneum.

Farm-to-Table Dinner: Salute the spring with Fine Art & Flowers Honorary Chair Ray Hardman! Sample the latest crop of locally made beer and wine during cocktail hour - Onyx Spirits Company will unveil a new specialty cocktail - followed by a four-course farm-to-table dinner prepared with garden fresh ingredients from area farms, businesses, distilleries, and vineyards including Rosedale Farms & Vineyards, Winding Drive Jams, City Steam Brewery Cafe, Hartford Baking Co., NoRA Cupcake Company and more. Throughout the evening enjoy music by The Hartt School’s Elizabeth Grace Band, and Connecticut Lyric Opera will perform selections from their upcoming performance of Puccini’s Madama Butterfly. From cocktails to dinner, be inspired by resplendent works of art paired with imaginative floral interpretations. $95
6 pm: Cocktail Hour – Morgan Great Hall
Sample Italian inspired hors d’oeuvres and sip on a fresh selection of local beers and wine, and a specialty Onyx Moonshine cocktail.
7 pm: Farm-to-Table Dinner - Avery Court
1st Course (Antipasto)
A balsamic dressed tri-colore antipasto salad with endive, radicchio, and arugula served with olives, roasted red peppers, artichoke hearts, roasted eggplant, Italian cheese and a selection of artisan breads
2nd Course (Il Primo)
Potato Gnocchi served with a mushroom ragu and topped with a pancetta crisp
3rd Course (Il Secondo)
Braised beef Tuscan style over a polenta cake served with sautéed spinach and white beans
4th Course (Dolce)
Cannoli Cupcake, NoRA Cupcake Company

Lecture & Book Signing: Lady in the Dark: Iris Barry & the Art of Film: Robert Sitton, Adjunct Professor of Media and Culture at Marylhurst University, discusses his book, which chronicles the friendships and professional networks developed by pivotal modernist figures Iris Barry and Chick Austin, and the enduring impact such relationships had on their lives and careers. Book signing and cash bar reception to follow.
