12:30pm  Hat Luncheon

Join the Costume & Textile Society for its annual luncheon with special guests George Malkemus and Anthony Yurgaitis, co-founders of Manolo Blahnik USA! A conversation with Malkemus, Yurgaitis and their famous footwear will take place in Aetna Theater at 11:30am, and some lucky guests will even get to wear the shoes made legendary by Sarah Jessica Parker in Sex and the City! Following the presentation, a luncheon will be served in Avery Court.

george_anthony_Page_2About our guests: George Malkemus and Anthony Yurgaitis are the co-founders of Manolo Blahnik USA. They began the business with Mr. Blahnik in 1982 as sole licensees for the Americas. Recently, George and Tony have started a new company with Sarah Jessica Parker called SJP USA. Ms. Parker has designed a shoe, bag and trench collection exclusively for Nordstrom, which was launched this past March. When they are not involved in fashion they are at their farm in Litchfield, Connecticut, overseeing 400 dairy cows, a creamery, a retail shop, and a new restaurant called Arethusa al tavolo. Whatever endeavor they undertake, their mission statement is always to be passionate about what they do, to provide the best quality products and to contribute excellent service to their customers and community.
