First Thursday: Sing the Blues: End the summer on a high note with blues music, a 3 in 30 tour of blue paintings, a landscape painting demo, a performance by Hartford-based improv and sketch comedy group Tick Tick Boom, and more! Film at 8pm: Le Week-End.

Second Saturdays: The Four Seasons: As the seasons change, we notice nature’s changing colors. Look at images of seasonal change in the museum and create your own print of a tree through the four seasons. Watch a printing demonstration by Hartford Prints!. Free admission 10am – 1pm.

Explore art with your family, encourage creativity, and expand your imagination through conversation and discovery. Each program is free and includes hands-on art projects, tours for families, live music, and engaging fun through film, theater and dance. Join us the second Saturday of every month year-round!
Lecture: Costuming Hollywood in its Golden Age: Fit for a Screen: Collector John Davey discusses the challenges and requirements inherent in designing clothing for film, using examples from his vast collection of Hollywood and couture clothing. Following the lecture enjoy a cocktail reception in Loctite Lobby.

Gallery Talk: The Intriguing Medium of Rock: Take a closer look at Carl Andre’s Stone Field Sculpture and works by artists of the Hudson River School with Professor Robert Thorson, Department of Geology at the University of Connecticut, and author of Stone by Stone: The Magnificent History in New England’s Stone Walls. Explore the range of artistry found in Hartford’s most famous boulders and the distant grandeur of nineteenth-century landscapes. Free with admission.
