Lecture and Concert: Venit lumen: Music in the Age of Caravaggio
Eric Rice, Artistic Director, Connecticut Early Music Festival/ Associate Professor of Music, University of Connecticut, will deliver a pre-concert lecture at 3pm on the ways the Caravaggisti and musicians of the Baroque era shaped their works using drama and contrast. Lecture is free and open to the public.
The Connecticut Early Music Ensemble will perform music of the Baroque era in the museum’s Morgan Great Hall at 5pm, featuring sacred and secular music of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries by Gesualdo, Marenzio, Monteverdi, and others. $30/$25 Members: (860) 439-2787 (Tickets required for concert only).
