The Wadsworth is open and welcoming visitors to the galleries Thursday–Sunday, noon–5pm. Advance reservations are suggested but not required. Walk-up visitors will be accommodated.

Connecticut Art Trail
The Connecticut Art Trail is a nationally recognized partnership between world-class museums and historic sites throughout the state, created to promote Connecticut’s rich cultural assets. Purchase a Connecticut Art Trail Art Passport online or in person at our Information Desk to receive one day admission at each of the member museums per year.
Free Admission Opportunities
As part of the Wadsworth’s commitment to provide greater community access to the museum, a variety of free general admission opportunities are available (special fees excluded). Please note that a fundraising surcharge applies during Fine Art & Flowers and Festival of Trees & Traditions.
CT Summer at the Museum
CT Summer at the Museum is back for CT residents! From July 1 through September 4, 2023, Connecticut children aged 18 and under plus one accompanying Connecticut resident adult can receive free admission to the Wadsworth as part of the CT Summer at the Museum program.
Wadsworth Welcome
Through a partnership with the City of Hartford and Aetna, the Wadsworth now offers free admission for Hartford residents every day the museum is open. Read more here. *Please note that a fundraising surcharge applies during Fine Art & Flowers and Festival of Trees & Traditions.
Happy Hour
Admission to the Wadsworth is free from 4–5pm Thursday–Sunday.
Second Saturdays For Families
Arrive between noon and 2pm on the second Saturday of each month and enjoy free admission for the day. Check our calendar for a list of upcoming family programs.
Library ARTpass
Visit your Connecticut public library and borrow the Wadsworth Atheneum ARTpass. Offered free of charge to more than 200 Connecticut public libraries, the ARTpass provides free general admission for two adults and two youth age 17 and younger.
Community Open House
Several times each year, the Wadsworth sponsors Community Open House days. More than free admission to the museum, Open House events feature special programming, activities, and performers to heighten the connection between visitors and the art. Veterans
Veterans are admitted free of charge year-round.
Active-duty Military
Active-duty military and their immediate family members (up to five) are admitted free of charge year-round.
Bank of America Museums on Us
Bank of America credit and debit cardholders receive free admission to the Wadsworth during the first weekend of every month. Visit the Bank of America website for more details.
NARM & ROAM
Members of North American Reciprocal Museum Program (NARM) and the Reciprocal Organization of Associated Museums (ROAM) organizations receive free admission year-round.
Evening Lectures
Most evening lectures are free and open to the public.
Corporate Members
Corporate Membership provides companies exclusive museum access and involvement for its key executives, employees, and guests. Benefits include free employee admission and the opportunity to host special events at the museum. Learn more.
