Andrew Wyeth: Looking Beyond
March 24, 2012 – July 22, 2012
Inspired by the Andrew Wyeth paintings in the Wadsworth’s collection—Northern Point (1950), April Wind (1952), and Chambered Nautilus (1956)—Andrew Wyeth: Looking Beyond, on view March 24 through July 22, 2012, invited viewers to look deeper into the masterful technique and poignant imagery of one of the twentieth century’s most critiqued artists. Andrew Wyeth: Looking Beyond also addressed the prevalence of windows and half-opened doors throughout his works, through a selection of outside loans from public and private collections.
A companion exhibition James Welling: “Wyeth” included photographs that corresponded to Wyeth’s most iconic paintings.
