How has our understanding of the Middle East and the area known as the Holy Land changed since Frederic Church visited the region in 1869? This discussion will explore how political conflict has changed the landscape and affected cultural patrimony of the Middle East. Participants include Nasser Rabbat, professor of Islamic architecture at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Sean Anderson, associate curator of architecture at the Museum of Modern Art.

Held in conjunction with the special exhibition Frederic Church: A Painter’s Pilgrimage.
