Join Philippe Halbert, Richard Koopman Associate Curator of American Decorative Arts, as he shares new discoveries in the Wetmore Parlor, a paneled room from a house in Middletown, Connecticut. Acquired by the Wadsworth in 1986 and carefully reassembled at the museum, the parlor is considered one of the most elaborate domestic interiors created in New England before 1776. Hear about the people, free and enslaved, who inhabited the parlor, and learn about ongoing scientific analysis and conservation of its exuberant painted decoration.
