Thomas Cole: Atlantic Crossings

Thomas Cole, one of America’s most prominent landscape painters and founder of the Hudson River School, is celebrated this spring at the Met. Thomas Cole: Atlantic Crossings marks the 200th anniversary of Cole’s immigration to the United States from northern England. We will explore the artist’s career in relation to his European roots and travels on a docent-led tour. The exhibition will include noted works by J.M.W. Turner and John Constable as well as the next generation of Hudson River artists. Tours are scheduled for 11am and 12pm. Please list the people you would like in your group; final groups will be determined by the date your reservation was received.

Lunch is one your own. Two additional exhibitions present the opportunity to “visit” France. Public Parks, Private Gardens—Paris to Provence and Visitors to Versailles 1682-1690 will be on view during our trip.

$100; $90 Members; includes transportation, admission, guided tour, and gratuities.
