Film: The Troublemakers: The Story of Land Art

March 12, 2016 @ 2:00 pm

This documentary unearths the history of land art in the tumultuous late 1960s and early 1970s. The film features renegade New York artists who sought to transcend the limitations of painting and sculpture by producing earthworks on a monumental scale. Features artists Carl Andre (whose Stone Field Sculpture sits diagonally across Main Street from the Wadsworth Atheneum), Michael Heizer, Dennis Oppenheim, Robert Smithson, Nancy Holt, Vito Acconci, and others.
