Lecture | The Murder of Jane McCrea

5pm: Reception
6pm: Lecture

The slaying of young Jane McCrea marked a fundamental turn in the American Revolution. Paul Staiti, Alumnae professor of art history at Mount Holyoke College, offers fresh perspectives about this legendary event and the enduring fascination with McCrea, based on John Vanderlyn’s 1804 oil painting of the violent scene, now held in the Wadsworth’s collection.
