Sketch Class: Summer Drawing

Learn how to draw and sketch in the exhibition Frederic Church: A Painter’s Pilgrimage during two classes led by UConn professor of art, Kathryn Myers. Open to adults of all levels of artistic ability. Attend one or both classes!

Tickets are $18/$8 museum members; includes museum admission.

Supply List:

You can find these items at various art supply stores including Michaels in East Hartford or the West Farm Shopping Center; Jerry’s in New Britain; or online at Dick Blick.

Pencils:
–Soft graphite sticks or graphite pencils
–Soft charcoal pencils
—Colored pencils or pastel pencils
–White pastel pencil or white charcoal pencil
–Black and white conte crayons

–Kneaded or gum erasers
–Pencil sharpener that works with charcoal pencils

Papers:
–Individual pieces of white or gray toned charcoal paper, or pads. (Gray or earth tone is particularly recommended when working with colored pencils, pastels, or with white and black charcoal.)

Sketch pads:
All white paper or pastel color papers can be used, such as:
–Strathmore 300 series charcoal paper, 11 x 17
–Earth Tone Mi-Teintes, 12 x 16
–Gray Tone Mi-Tientes, 12 x 16
(This is an average size that is easy to handle sitting or standing, but you are welcome to work with larger paper sizes.)

–Box for supplies since we may move around
