Gather with us as we welcome two friends from the Museum of Fine Arts Boston: Bettina Burr, Vice President of the Board of Trustees, and Victoria Reed, Curator of Provenance. They will share the story of how the Burr family collection was looted by the Nazis following the Austrian annexation by Germany in 1938, later recovered, and now part of the MFA as The Rothschild Collection.
This program is dedicated in memory of David T. Chase, Connecticut philanthropist and loving father of our Trustee Cheryl, in recognition of his commitment to victims of the Holocaust and his endurance as a survivor himself. We remember David’s leadership in funding provenance research here at the Atheneum. We remember too that Nazi-era repatriation is an ongoing matter in need of our attention as a field.
As is our custom, the speaking program begins at 6:30pm. A brief reception will precede and follow the program.
RSVP by September 16 to firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling (860) 838-4171.
