In this woodcut, the artist Utagawa Hiroshige illustrated traditional themes of “snow,” “moon,” and “flowers.” Hiroshige’s portrayed “snow” within a mountainous landscape and showcased Kisokaidô, an important mountain road linking Edo with Kyoto, the capital. Hiroshige’s radical use of cropping and white space produces a sense of abstraction. Considered the last great master of ukiyo-e art, Hiroshige specialized in creating poetic landscapes.

En este grabado en madera, el artista Utagawa Hiroshige ilustró temas tradicionales de “nieve”, “luna” y “flores”. Hiroshige retrató la “nieve” dentro de un paisaje montañoso y mostró Kisokaidô, una importante carretera de montaña que une Edo con Kioto, la capital.
