48th Annual Hartford Youth Art Renaissance

May 14 – June 30, 2021

In partnership with Hartford Public Schools, the Wadsworth presents the 48th annual Hartford Youth Art Renaissance (HYAR) digital exhibition. These K-12 student artworks examine the impact of 2020 on our students and community. The artwork responds directly to the hopes and challenges of the past year, and the artists’ collective voices serve as a vision of hope toward a more equitable future.

We are proud of these young artists. In the midst of a chaotic school year, they made beautiful and meaningful works. Some students created artwork from home, as they learned remotely or online for the first time, using whatever materials were available. We commend their caregivers, teachers, and school administrators, who have maintained safe and nurturing spaces for creating, despite the hardships of a year unlike any before.

We hope you enjoy the exhibition. The slideshow is available below, and is presented in the museum windows at Avery entrance, located at 29 Atheneum Square North, on a 24/7 continual loop. Please drive or walk by to see the show.
