Artist Talk | "The Dauntless Bureau" with Rachel Portesi

Artist Rachel Portesi discusses her work The Dauntless Bureau, an installation commissioned for the Styling Identities exhibition. Seventeen sculptural works incorporating photographic processes and human hair were created to fit in a bureau (c. 1860s) originally from the cabin of the ship Dauntless. Portesi drew inspiration from the life of Elizabeth Hart Jarvis Colt for a work that looks across time to illuminate a universally shared female history of strength, motherhood, grooming, and hair. Free with museum admission.
