DancEnlight performs a dance, inspired by Utamaro and the Lure of Japan and choreographed by Lorelei Chang and Mai Nakanishi, in the museum galleries.

Performances are at 1pm and 3pm. Free with museum admission.

Second Saturdays: Warrior Women!
Mar 11 @ 10:00 am – 1:00 pm

Celebrate Women’s History Month and learn about powerful women in art and history. Decorate and donate a bag of household items for My Sister’s Place, an organization committed to ending homelessness by empowering women, families, and others in Greater Hartford. Additional donations of new, unused household items—especially laundry detergent, cleaning supplies, paper towels, bath tissue, diapers, full and twin sheet sets, bath towels, and bathroom rugs—are welcome! Plus, create a warrior accessory to wear to the St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

Dance Performance: Incarnations

Incarnations is an exclusive dance performance, choreographed and performed by former New York City Ballet dancer Emily Coates, with acclaimed filmmaker, Yvonne Rainer. Presented in conjunction with the special exhibition Gorey’s Worlds.

Tickets are $15/$10 members, and are available for purchase online now.

Art After Dark: Rock the Kasbah

Celebrate the exhibition Frederic Church: A Painter’s Pilgrimage at Art After Dark.

Featuring:

  • Belly dancing demos and lessons by Arthur Murray Dance Centers
  • Live music by Layaali Arabic Music Ensemble
  • Exhibition tour with curator Erin Monroe at 6pm
  • Docent-led exhibition tour at 7pm
  • An art activity exploring the intricate shapes and patterns Church might have encountered during his travels
  • Bazaar filled with items for sale, such as olive oil, za’atar seasoning, oya necklaces, Turkish towels, and olive oil soap
  • A screening of Caramel at 8pm

 

Tickets $10/$5 members; purchase at the door.

Peruvian Independence day celebrationCelebrate Fiestas Patrias—Peru’s Independence Day—at the Wadsworth. A docent-guided tour highlights Peruvian artworks in the museum’s collection, and the fiesta includes live music, Peruvian dancers, complimentary snacks, and cash bar. Free.

New England Ballet Theatre | The Carnival of the Animals and Contemporary Works CANCELED

This performance is canceled. In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, all programs are canceled until further notice. The museum is actively reviewing our public programming schedule in line with state and local guidance. Learn more about the Wadsworth response to COVID-19.

An original production of The Carnival of the Animals debuts alongside new works by choreographers Nathan Crewe-Kluge, Calvin Bittner, and Rachael Gnatowski. After the performance, don your ugly holiday sweater and have a cocktail in hand to join the cast and crew for a virtual reception. Choreographed and directed by Carolyn Paine. Signature Nutcracker Suite and Spicy cocktail: Sugar Rum Cherry

Craft a delicious cocktail to enhance your evening!

1 oz Wild Moon Rose
1 oz Gold Rum
1 bar spoon Luxardo Cherry Juice and 1 Cherry
 
Shake over ice
Add 2.5 oz ginger ale
Mix thoroughly. Strain into a coupe glass with a cinnamon sugar rim.
